I was deeply inspired by the recent total solar eclipse and created an illustration that plays on a unique Christian irony: the difference between the sun we see and the Son we seek.
While looking directly at the sun is harmful to our eyes, focusing on Jesus, the Son of God, brings a different kind of light into our lives. This idea is reflected in Revelation 21:23, where the city doesn't need the sun because the glory of God lights it up, with Jesus as its lamp.
This artwork merges these concepts, using a play on words with "sun" and "Son" to highlight how, in faith, looking towards the light of Christ can illuminate our understanding and our world. It's a reminder that the spiritual light of the Son is safe and nurturing to gaze upon, unlike the physical sun we shield our eyes from.
So, as we navigate both our physical and spiritual worlds, let's cherish the light that guides us safely—the everlasting light of Jesus.
